Mother’s day is this weekend in Japan. It’s common to give a bouquet of red carnations to your mother but I will be sending my mom some potted hydrangeas. These are a new variety with dark blue flowers. It’s my mom’s favorite color so I think it is a more personal gift than the red carnations.
Hydrangeas bloom before the rainy season and help us think of a little cool respite from the hot summer in Japan.
When is Mother’s day in your country? Is there a traditional flower to give to your mothers?
Stay safe, stay healthy.
