July the 4thと聞くと花火とバーベキューを思い出します。日本の建国記念日とは違いますね。
July 4th is coming up next week! Are you going to watch fireworks that evening? I miss watching fireworks!
When I started my student life in Boston, I didn’t know what 'the July the Fourth' was and just joined a BBQ party. It was fun for me to meet and talk with American people. Later, I understood it’s America's independence day! A very special day for the American people.
In Japan, we have a similar day, but we call it National Foundation Day. It’s Feb. 11th. However, we do not join in any special festivals to celebrate the day. People watch a very formal ceremony held by politicians and celebrities on TV. It’s a national holiday but the Japanese people spend the holiday doing ordinary things. I prefer the American way of celebrating the special occasion!
Happy Independence Day!
