I thought you might like an update about the earthquake in Hokkaido.
The electricity came back last night and my family and I were able to leave the evacuation center. It was such a relief to return to a lighted home. We could boil water, eat a microwaved meal, watch the news on TV and charge our cellphones. Then, we went to bed and were so happy to sleep in the comfort of our own futons.
Even though it has been three days since the quake, there have been more than a hundred aftershocks. They are really scary but I realized it was even scarier to be disconnected from the world. We take for granted how important electricity is to our lives and communication.
So in the end, my family, friends, and I are safe and I learned a valuable lesson about appreciating the things that I have.
Thank you for your friendship as usual.
