アメリカにいる親戚に新年の挨拶をしたい。大震災のときにメールをもらったことがうれしかったこと。また地震を機にアメリカの知り合いとfacebookで連絡を取り合っていることを伝えたい。

Thank you very much for the mail when we had the disastrous earthquake and tsunami last March. We were happy to know that we had relatives who worried about us in the US. Things are getting to normal today.

Since the great quake and tsunami, I have communicated with Chris, David and Jill on Facebook. I will upload pictures of my family on it. Please have a look at them when you have time.

ホストファミリーからクリスマスカードを頂いていたのですが、昨年末祖母が亡くなり、法事などで忙しくしていたため、返信していません。お詫びと新年の挨拶をしたい。

I wanted to write you back sooner, but my grandma passed away last November at the age of 99. I had to take care of so many things for the funeral and the following Japanese Buddhist events according to our custom. It took so much time and efforts to arrange everything and it was exhausting.

After that disastrous earthquake and tsunami, normal life events have been happening all over Japan. Within my family, my sister who resided near Fukushima gave birth to her second son at my house last September. They are now back to their own home.

もっと早くにお返事したかったのですが、祖母が昨年の11月に99歳で大往生しました。お葬式やら、日本の仏教の習慣に従っていろんな仏事をとり行わなければなりませんでした。それで時間がなく、大変でした。

あの地震と津波の後、日本中が通常の生活に戻りつつあります。我が家では、福島に住んでいた妹が昨年の9月に、こちらで２人目の男の子を産みました。今は福島に戻っています。

放射能漏れの健康被害について

ハワイの友人から今年は仕事で来日の機会が増えるというメールをもらいました。でも福島の原発の放射能漏れのことが心配のようです。大丈夫だと返信したい。
