Introduction
On December 10, 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for helping thousands upon thousands of poor, sick and lonely people all over the world. The Nobel Peace Prize is usually given to statesmen who have worked to bring peace to the world, but the Nobel Peace Prize Committee felt that Mother Teresa had done as much as many other powerful statesmen to help bring peace to this world. Mother Teresa was born in Yugoslavia but went to India as a young Catholic sister to teach in a Catholic school for girls. She arrived in Calcutta in 1929, when Calcutta was ,the largest city of India which was under British rule.
